My recent book signing at The Fly Shop in Redding turned out to be everything Kathy and I had hoped for, and a whole lot more. Mike Michalak’s friendly and highly professional staff couldn’t have been more gracious and welcoming. It’s easy to understand why The Fly Shop, one of Redding’s icons, has been in business for forty-four years, draws customers from all over the world, and is still going strong.

I’d like to take this opportunity to thank you for your support of my writing over the years and to tell you some exciting news! My first novel, The Case of the Missing Game Warden, has been selected as a “Best First Novel” award finalist in the Next Generation Indie Book Awards for 2022. The Next Generation Indie Book Awards is the largest international awards program for independent publishers and authors in the world. As is the case with my first two books—Badges, Bears, and Eagles and The Game Warden’s Son—The Case of the Missing Game Warden is a Coffeetown Press book, published by Epicenter Press of Seattle, Washington.
The book tour is in full swing for The Game Warden’s Son. Two recent stops on the tour were Whiskeytown National Recreation Area and The Fly Shop in Redding.
Having grown up near Chico and graduated from Chico State, I always enjoy coming back to my old stomping grounds. Last week’s successful book signing at the Chico Costco made this occasion extra special: I was able to visit with classmates I hadn’t seen since high school and make a passel of new friends. Kathy and I had a great time and thought we’d share our experience by posting a few photographs.
