Last night I had the pleasure and privilege of giving a presentation to a packed house of Wintu Audubon Society members. In addition to discussing my current book and the upcoming sequel, The Game Warden’s Son—A Half Century of Protecting California’s Wildlife, we shared ideas about how our natural resources might be better protected. One of the suggestions for helping to finance more wardens in the field was a voluntary wildlife stamp for people who bird watch, hike, and enjoy nature’s wonders but don’t necessarily hunt or fish. This is an excellent idea, in my opinion, and one that would find favor, I believe, with sportsmen, nature enthusiasts, and game wardens alike.

What an honor it was to be interviewed in Morro Bay by Tom Wilmer, the illustrious host of National Public Radio’s hit program, “Journeys of Discovery.” The show will be broadcast this Wednesday, July 9, at 1:00 or 1:15 PM, throughout Central California, on NPR affiliates KCBX, KSBX, and KNBX. It will also air worldwide at the same time on KCBX.org.

What an honor it was to return to the Sacramento National Wildlife Refuge for my author presentation and book signing last week. I enjoyed visiting this special place to speak with other wildlife enthusiasts about the importance of conserving our precious natural resources.   An added bonus was meeting Susan Meeker, a reporter for my hometown newspaper, the Glenn County Transcript.  Susan wrote a wonderful article, “Author Visits Wildlife Refuge in Willows,” for which I am very grateful.

Sun Oaks Book Signing

Share

We had a fantastic book signing yesterday at Redding’s Sun Oaks Tennis and Fitness.   Thanks so much to Julie, Lisa, and the wonderful Sun Oaks staff who hosted our event.  Kathy and I were amazed at the number of people who showed up, some to buy books and others to have their already-purchased copies signed.  We sold out in a little over two hours and had a great time.   Thanks so much to everyone who came.

Our next public book signing is scheduled for April 26th, at the Redding Costco (10:00 AM to 4:00 PM).   Hope to see you there!  For those of you from out of the area, you can order Badges, Bears, and Eagles online from Barnes and Noble, Amazon, Smashwords, and Walmart.  You can also have your local bookstore order a copy for you.

I am very happy to say that our first book signing event, at the NorCal Boat, Sport and RV Show, was a success. Thanks to the wonderful article in Saturday’s Redding Record Searchlight and all of the nice people who came by, we sold out in three hours. For those readers who have ordered through Amazon, the word I’m getting is three weeks to delivery. Barnes and Noble and Amazon are able to provide ebooks right away.
